1st XI Show Lots of Early Season Promise

Homefield’s 1st XI made a positive start to their football season, showing lots of promise as they made the short trip to local rivals Hawthorns.

The boys were made to work hard by a sharp Hawthorns side, which put Homefield under a lot of pressure for most of the first half. Goalkeeper Krisnaa M was forced into two excellent saves and Homefield were relieved to go into the break with the score still at 0-0.

The pressure told early in the second half as Homefield lost possession just inside the Hawthorns half and one pass sent their striker through on goal to open the scoring.

Far from going into their shells, the goal seemed to spark Homefield into life as the boys applied more pressure on the Hawthorns defence and began to create chances to draw level.

Homefield did eventually gain a deserved equaliser when Logan J’s piercing through ball sent Ashwin B through on goal. He made no mistake as he neatly finished from just inside the penalty area. The game ended 1-1, which was a fair result between two evenly matched sides.
