Since the start of the academic year, boys at Homefield Preparatory School have been raising money for an extremely valuable cause, World Child Cancer.
The school has a vested interest in supporting this particular charity – a number of its pupils past and present have been diagnosed with cancer and a mother of one of its current pupils works for the Charity. Tuesday 15th December will see Homefield present Joe from World Child Cancer with a representative cheque for £1,616.08. During the assembly, Joe will deliver a presentation to the children and staff detailing the wonderful things their fundraising will do for children with cancer and events which the Charity will be undertaking in the near future.
Such a large sum of money did not come easily. The majority of the money came from two school initiatives. The first was a World Child Cancer wristband sale to draw attention to the charity and the second was a sponsored Skipathon in school, during which the boys were tasked with skipping continuously throughout the day, participating in thirty minute intervals.
