On Wednesday, the Homefield 1st XI entertained Aberdour in a return football fixture.
In the first half, Homefield took the lead on two occasions, first when Tami’s fine cross was deflected into his own net by an Aberdour defender and then when Matthew T showed excellent skill to cross from the right wing for Ashwin B to turn the ball into the net from close range. This was Ashwin B’s third goal in three games.
Unfortunately Aberdour drew level on both occasions and the teams went in at half time with the score deadlocked at 2-2.
Aberdour scored a goal early in the second half to take a 3-2 lead and though both Qais M and Ben B had chances to bring Homefield back on level terms, Aberdour went 4-2 up when a long shot found the net.
Rhys pulled one back with a fine turn and shot from the edge of the penalty area but despite piling on the pressure, Homefield were unable to find the equalizer and Aberdour won the match 4-3.
This was a very entertaining game, with David D and Dameer A both having solid games and Matthew T posing a constant threat down the right wing for Homefield.
