Two of Homefield’s Youth Travel Ambassadors (YTAs) went to the Sutton Life Centre last Friday to present the school’s YTA campaign to other schools and a Dragon’s Den-style panel of judges.
Rohan and Ved clearly impressed the judges as Homefield won the award for The Most Professional Youth Travel Ambassador Team.
Homefield also won awards for Tube Anagrams (scoring 24/24) and Human Bingo and for their interview with Sutton Council and the Mayor of Sutton. Rohan and Ved were presented with certificates to bring back to school.
The Youth Travel Ambassador (YTA) scheme is designed to allow young people to make a difference to transport issues affecting their school communities. With the support of Borough officers and specialist Transport for London staff, YTA teams develop and deliver campaigns focused on encouraging more walking and cycling to school, sharing key road safety messages, promoting responsible behaviour on the transport network and giving young people the skills and confidence to travel safely and independently.
