Early Arrivals

We  have a Breakfast club which facilitates the dropping off of the boys at 7.45am.  Please contact the School Office for further details on this facility.

Late Departures

If you know that you are going to be delayed please notify us in order to save any undue distress to your son. He will then be taken to the crèche where you will be able to collect him.  The crèche is available until 4pm for those children who have brothers in the Senior Department or who travel on the school bus.  "Superstars", the after-school club, is available until 6.15 pm.

Absence

If your son is absent from school, due to ill health, please inform the school office, by telephone, before 8:30 a.m. and send a note of explanation to your son’s form teacher on his return.  Permission must be sought from the Headmaster for any other leave of absence.

Illness

Please do not send your son into school if you have a reason to suspect that he is ill.  This includes children who are on extended courses of antibiotics.

If your child suffers vomiting or diarrhoea, he must not attend school until 24 hours have passed since the last occurrence of the symptoms or 48 hours in the event of multiple occurrences of vomit or diarrhoea.  Conjunctivitis or other communicable diseases should also be treated appropriately at home to minimise the risk of infection to others.

If a child requires medication, this should always be clearly labelled before being handed, together with the appropriate form detailing the dosage required, to the school office for safekeeping and administration.

If your child is asthmatic his inhaler must be clearly labelled and handed to a member of staff, to be stored in the medical room, for supervised use.

Health & Safety Form

Each year every boy in the school is issued with a Health and Safety form which must be completed to ensure that all contact details are correct and up to date.  Should your son’s medical status change throughout the year please inform the school in writing as soon as possible.

Medical Cover

The school has its own sick room in which children who have small accidents or who become ill at school can be cared for until collection by their parents. It is vital that the school secretary is given full details of any important or long-term medical problems and parental contact numbers must be supplied.  If you are aware that you will frequently not be available to collect your child, an alternative contact must be supplied to The School Office.

Breaktime Snacks

Boys are allowed to bring break into school, but this should be something small and sensible – such as a biscuit or a piece of fruit.  Sweets and chocolate are not allowed.  Boys may bring a named sports bottle of water to school. Water or milk are provided at morning break.

School Lunches

Boys may select from three main courses at lunchtime.  They are helped to choose their meal from the menu by their form staff and then eat under supervision.  Good table manners are encouraged. Children requiring a special diet can be readily provided for, but a letter giving notice is required.

Milk

Boys are encouraged to drink milk at morning break.  If you would like your son to have this, forms are available from the school office.

Bulletins and Circulars

The school publishes a weekly bulletin and newsletter, which can be accessed on our website www.homefield.sutton.sch.uk.  Should you not have internet access, please inform the office who will give your son a hard copy.

Please ensure that you read the documents each week in order to keep up with the school’s events.  Additional letters to notify you of other details pertaining to the Junior Department are sent, as necessary, during the year.  You can also view these documents via our school website.

Partnership with Parents

We should like to think of your child’s education at Homefield as a partnership between the family and the School.  With this in mind, we have compiled this information, which we hope will answer questions that will inevitably arise and also help your child whilst he is settling in.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the School Office and we will answer them.
